New Baby, New Mom: What is this?

Join us online for 6 weeks of mindfulness-based support for your first year of motherhood.

Wednesdays, 10-11am EST, October 8 - November 12, 2025.

Facilitated by MBCP teacher Kelly Trese and MBCP alumna Kristen Daveler: two mindfulness practitioners who are raising six mindfulness teachers at home and are drawn to supporting postpartum moms on the path of practice.

Come as you are and sink into a circle! We will work with mindfulness practice and community connections as two foundational supports for new motherhood. We'll sit and move, explore how the practice applies to postpartum life, commune with one another, and find pathways of support through practice.

This offering is designed for, but not limited to, our Mindfulness-Based Childbirth & Parenting (MBCP) alumnae. If you took the course and know another new mom who might be interested in this type of mindfulness-based support, feel free to invite her! No prior mindfulness experience necessary. Also, this group is for you whether you’ve just had your first baby or any other number.

We encourage you to join us in a way that feels best for your particular situation, whether that means arranging to have an hour to yourself with another caregiver present for baby, whether you want or need to have baby with you / on you, or whether you’re back at work and are swapping your lunch break hour to be with us instead ;) … all options are welcome, as long as the arrangements you make align with your intention for yourself. What would make it possible for you to join us and feel present and connected for an hour of practice, reflection, and discussion?

If you’d like to receive more information about this offering, including our sliding scale pricing, send us a message below!

* We acknowledge that this particular group cannot serve all parents, due to gender identity, childcare accommodations, or work status outside the home. At Mindful Birth & Parenting Philadelphia, we aspire to serve all parts of our alumni community.

Why mindful parenting?

Contractions — moments of tightness / challenge / stress / knotted-up-ness — are a fact of life. Often there are many in our lives as parents as we deal with crying babies, screaming toddlers, fighting siblings, anxious kids, sulking teenagers, or even floundering young adults. This makes parenthood sound like so much fun, doesn't it? We all know there is another side to each of those coins, of course. But can we be in the moments that make up our lives? Can we live into them more fully? Mindfulness practice invites us to sink into all the moments of our lives, to find ease and presence no matter the weather, and to ride the inevitable waves of experiences as they move with varying speed or intensity.

MBCP Alum 2017

When are these offered?

New Baby, New Mom: Mindfulness-Based Support Group runs for 6 weeks this fall on Wednesdays: October 8 - November 12, 10-11am online.

MS is ongoing. Alumni sign up usually in 3-mo blocks.

INTRO groups are formed by you and taught by us. Get a minimum of 5 parents together and we will teach it, accommodating your schedule.

How does it work?

Put your baby to sleep while meditating! Or yourself. Reconnect with your practice! Or yourself. Learn mindfulness-based parenting hacks. Connect with others who are applying the practice to their parenting lives. This is a flexible space and it’s made for you.
